Winterize your vehicle soon!
The leaves are falling in bunches and the wind has some teeth. Can there be any doubt that we will be seeing the white stuff before long?
It's always a good idea to have your vehicle inspected before any significant changes of season.
According to Toyota, the following should be addressed before the weather takes a turn for the worse:
Get A Pre-Season Inspection
Bring your Toyota to Summit for a pre-season inspection. We will check all systems, including the battery, antifreeze level, thermostat, heater, brakes and defroster.
Check Your Tires
Check for proper inflation and make sure your tires have adequate tread. If the treads are worn, replace your tires. If you tend to have a hard time driving in the snow, consider adding snow tires. Snow treads have better traction on ice and snow and are better equipped to handle extreme winter conditions.
Test Your Lights
Perform a visual inspection of your Toyota’s lights. Make sure the front and rear lights are operational, especially the flashing hazard lights. You may need someone to watch you pump your brakes to check your brake lights, but it’s worth the time.
Winterize Your Windshield
Standard windshield wiper fluid can freeze in extreme cold. Use one designed for colder climates. Also, get winter wiper blades to cut through snow and ice. Check the spray nozzles of your windshield washer system and use a needle or pin to clear blockages.
Rinse Off Road Salt
Salt used to de-ice roads during winter can damage your Toyota's paint. Rinsing it off every once in a while can help, but a good wash and coat of fresh wax will help prevent corrosion and keep your Toyota looking great all winter long. We do offer professional detailing packages, which are just the thing for keeping your Toyota like new through the season.
Of course, try to avoid extreme conditions or wait them out whenever possible. But if you’ve followed all the tips above, your Toyota should be ready to handle just about whatever Mother Nature throws its way this winter. If you want to be sure you’re all set for the snow, schedule service with Summit for a quick checkup!

No need for concern
There is a very large, industry-wide recall in the news today. Seven manufacturers are being affected by this recall, including Toyota. The recall was issued over an issue which may cause small fragments of metal to fly out when airbags deploy, causing possible injury or death.
Scary stuff, if you only catch the headlines...
The recall posed Monday by U.S. safety regulators covers the 2003 to 2005 Corolla and Matrix, the 2002 to 2005 Sequoia and the 2003 to 2005 Tundra. Also included is the 2003 to 2005 Pontiac Vibe made by Toyota.
While several Toyota vehicles are listed in the recall, the affected vehicles are ONLY in high-humidity areas.
The recall covers vehicles in South Florida, along the Gulf Coast, in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa.
Odds are, you've got nothing to worry about, unless you recently moved from one of the affected areas. If you would like some peace of mind, feel free to contact our service department with your VIN#. They will be able to determine whether or not your vehicle is affected in almost no time.

C'mon, man!
The advertising folks over at beats (the headphone company) decided to start a campaign "Re-establishing" LeBron as an Akron institution.
While we, as a whole, are thrilled to have LeBron back home and with the Cavs, we can't help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, the advertising big-wigs saw our sign next to I-77 as they were coming into town.
See, for the last month or so, we have been running a series of images across the sign. These images represent some iconic Akron landmarks. There are places that tourists flock to, but that the locals still love, (Think Luigi's, Derby Downs, The Akron Zoo, Canal Park and the like). These are interspersed with photos of our customers and some of the local youth programs that we sponsor.
The "theme" of the display is simple. We didn't have to leave to figure it out.
This is our home.
You are our friends and neighbors.
We are here to serve you.
We are #AkronProud.

50 is a milestone
There are a number of pop-culture icons that were first seen 50 years ago.
Did you know that the first Underdog Show aired in 1964?
How about Gilligan's Island? (In black and white, mind you.)
You had to give your answer in the form of a question for the first time 50 years ago!
This quintessentially American dish came out of Buffalo in '64...
And was joined by a few quintessentially American action figures...
G.I. Joe
And Patrick Duffy!
(Not really.)
Please, join the Summit Toyota family in wishing our Managing Partner, Mr. Dan Pyle
a HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!

The Future is Bright!
We are very excited to announce that the process has begun...Summit Toyota will be moving a few hundred yards west next year!
The final plans have been approved! We will be renovating the old Spitzer Dodge building this coming spring. We fully expect to be moved in by mid-July!
Moving into the new facility will enable us to better serve our customers in many ways.
Our service and parts departments will be expanded significantly, allowing us to service your vehicle more efficiently, cutting down on both your cost and down time!
We will have several areas for our service customers to work, read, relax, enjoy a snack or watch TV. Rumor has it that a special surprise is being planned for one of the waiting areas!
To the relief of many, we will have the ability to display more than ONE vehicle in our showroom! Shopping on rainy, snowy days will never again be a worry. We will be able to provide a quality presentation for you in the comfort of our fresh, modern showroom!
Please, take a look at the architect's drawing and let us know what you think! (Click the photo to enlarge.)
